RESIDENTS are being asked for their input on the future of a walk-in health service.
NHS Southampton Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) launched a 12-week public consultation on plans to close the walk-in service at Bitterne Health Centre (BWIC) and re-allocate resources to where they will have the greatest impact.
Patients from the Fareham area, mainly the Lockswood, Whiteley and Brook Lane GP practices, make up for 5.5 per cent of the walk-in attendances.
The CCG has been looking at care provided in the community.
It said: ‘What has become clear is that we need to prioritise developing and maintaining health services for the growing number of people with long-term conditions such as heart disease, breathing difficulties, and diabetes.’
The consultation started on June 15 and ends on September 4.
