FOUR Hampshire care homes have received top awards for maintaining an outstanding level of end-of-life care.

Care homes across the county, including Malmesbury Lawn in Havant, have received the highest industry accolade – Platinum accreditation with the Gold Standards Framework.

The framework is recognised by a wide range of organisations such as the Care Quality Commission and the Royal College of General Practitioners as the industry standard.

Cllr Liz Fairhurst from Hampshire County Council said: ‘There is nothing more important than ensuring a person is cared for with compassion and humanity at the end of their life.

‘The fact that four of our homes have been re-accredited with the highest level of recognition for the quality of care they provide to those at the end of life, is testament to the hard work, skill and kindness of our staff.’
