THE vital work of a domestic abuse service in Fareham has been praised by a top government minister.
Iain Duncan Smith, secretary of state for work and pensions, was impressed by the Southern Domestic Abuse Service.
The charity supports abuse victims in Fareham and provides help in the community for those seeking refuge.
Fareham MP Suella Fernandes brought the organisation to the attention of Mr Duncan Smith during a debate in the House of Commons.
After Ms Fernandes asked if the minister would congratulate the service for its efforts, Mr Duncan Smith said: ‘I congratulate my honourable friend and her remarkable charity. The government have backed that work up, because we have now trebled the amount of money going to these organisations. I would be very happy, at some point, to meet them to congratulate them myself.’
