THE latest drive for blood donors has been launched by the NHS.
Every day hundreds of lives are saved thanks to donors coming forward.
And NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) has announced the latest sessions for people to become lifesavers.
The increase is needed because of the unusually high number of public events this summer, including the Olympic Games.
NHSBT is always looking to increase people to join its blood bank.
You can give blood if you are generally in good health, aged 17 to 65 (if it’s your first time) and weigh at least 7st 12lb.
If you are female, aged under 20 or younger and weigh under 10st 3lb and are under 5ft 6in, then a blood volume check will be undertaken.
Male donors can give blood every 12 weeks and females every 16 weeks.
You can also go online and take a health check to see if you qualify to donate blood.
You can also get information by calling 0300 123 23 23.
