WALKERS and volunteer leaders are celebrating 10 years Walking for Health in Havant.

The weekly strolls take place at locations around the borough and are a great way to keep active, especially for older people.

The 30-strong volunteer leaders attract more than 250 regular people each week. The dedicated volunteers give up their time to lead the walks, which are free.

To mark the anniversary a long and short walk will take place on April 17 starting at 9.45am at the Acorn Centre, Wecock.

The mayor of Havant Councillor Ken Smith will start the walks.

Leader John Care said: ‘I enjoy the walks and the social aspect of meeting new people.

‘The health benefits that walking can achieve is a bonus.

‘I hope the regular walkers turn out in numbers to celebrate with us and others join us for the event to find out more about getting involved themselves.’

One walk will last for about half-an-hour and the other slightly longer at one-and-a- quarter hours. To find your nearest walk call 01730 234067 or go to
