EVENTS will provide information and raise awareness of the benefits of breastfeeding.
Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust is celebrating National Breastfeeding Week this week with a range of family days across the county.
The events will take place at various locations: Mill Hill Children’s Centre, Waterlooville, today from 10.30am until 12.30pm in the family room; Stanley Park, Gosport, or if it is raining it will be at Tree House Children’s Centre, Elson, Gosport, today from midday until 2pm; Lantern’s Children’s Centre, Bereweeke Road, Winchester, Wednesday from midday until 2pm; Chase Children’s Centre, Budds Lane, Bordon, Wednesday from 1pm until 3pm.
The scheme is being run by the Trust’s Breastfeeding Champions, staff and students, along with partnership organisations, Midwifery Services, local borough councils, children’s centres, voluntary services, dental services, Portsmouth hospitals, and Hampshire hospitals.
Karen Sheldon, Southern Health’s baby friendly deputy lead said: ‘The events provide a fun environment for families to enjoy our activities and games.
‘We’ll be holding a fun breastfeeding myths and truths quiz, and we’ll have displays which are aimed at raising awareness of the health benefits of breastfeeding.’
