SCANNERS that will to provide more specialist cancer screening have been introduced at Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth.

Company InHealth has been appointed by Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust – the firm behind QA – to deliver a comprehensive scanning service for the Portsmouth area.

It has brought in positron emission tomography/computed tomography, which provides a high-definition scan.

Dr Simon Ward, chief of service for clinical support at QA, said: ‘We’re proud to host this new service.

‘The development of PET/CT scanning shows the trust’s commitment to providing a high quality service for patients with cancer.’

The joint venture will be delivered to patients five days a week.
