A COUNCIL has vowed its commitment to supporting breastfeeding mothers.

Hampshire County Council has a new health visiting contract with Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust.

A spokeswoman said: ‘This will place increased emphasis on continuing and improving breastfeeding support in Hampshire, working alongside the NHS midwifery service.

‘An important element of the service is to be able to ensure that new mothers, wherever they live in the county, can access extra support, should they need it.’

And the spokeswoman added: ‘The health visiting service is also introducing 18 new breastfeeding support drop-ins as part of the new contract which will include four new clinics in Havant and two in Fareham.’
