A DROP-in event is being held for people with dementia and their carers.

Alzheimer’s Society will officially launch a one-stop shop for people with the condition in Portsmouth.

People affected by dementia in the area will be able to gain instant access to support, including the charity’s dementia support workers who can explain about the condition but also signpost people to the services available.

Lucie Debenham, Alzheimer’s Society services manager for central Hampshire, said: ‘There are more than 2,200 people living with dementia in the Portsmouth area.

‘We’re hoping this new venture will enable people affected by dementia to get the advice and support they need.’

The event is being held at Cascades Shopping Centre, in the centre of Portsmouth.

It is on Thursday, April 6 between 10am and 4pm.

To find out more about the service, please call the charity’s Portsmouth office on (023) 9289 2035 or email them at portsmouth@alzheimers.org.uk.
