The GP-led organisation that commissions health services for Portsmouth has made a new appointment to its governing board.

Andy Silvester has become the third lay member of the Portsmouth Clinical Commissioning Group – and will have responsibilities for workforce issues and voluntary sector relations.

Mr Silvester, who lives in Farlington, was previously a member of the now-defunct Portsmouth Primary Care Trust governing board.

He has also served as a city councillor for Paulsgrove and is a senior trade union representative in the naval base.

Dr Tim Wilkinson, chairman of the CCG, said: ‘Andy’s experience in both workforce issues and the NHS will greatly benefit us and he is a very welcome addition to our team.’
