PEOPLE in Gosport will benefit from a bigger GP surgery which has just opened.
The Bury Road Surgery has now moved across from its former site in Bury Road to the Gosport War Memorial Hospital.
One of the surgery’s patients, Edward Rowe, was invited to officially open the surgery at a ceremony on Wednesday.
Mr Rowe was a decorator who helped paint the surgery when it first opened 50 years ago.
Staff and GPs who work at the practice now have double the space to work in than before.
Practice manager Paul Edwards said: ‘The relocation means we are in bigger and improved accommodation.
‘We now offer better facilities and services to our patients and an improved working environment for our staff.
‘We thought it would be nice to invite one of our own patients to perform the opening.
‘Mr Rowe was a very appropriate choice as he had helped decorate our previous premises nearly 50 years ago.’
The practice has 4,500 patients and is served by three GPs.
