PEOPLE can apply to become governors of a health trust.

Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust, which delivers community care like health visitors, supporting people with mental illnesses or end of life care, is looking to elect people.

The role would include examining the trust, electing its chairman and playing a part in choosing a new chief executive.

Chairman Simon Waugh said: ‘It’s hard to overstate the importance of getting people to be part of our local NHS.

‘As a governor, you will have a key role in how the trust works. It’s something you can fit in around your schedule and we need people from all walks of life.’

To stand as a governor, candidates need to be aged 18 or over and be a member of the trust. Closing date for applications is Monday.
