A TELEVISION presenter has become the vice-president of the Wessex Cancer Trust.

The charity, which supports cancer sufferers across Hampshire and nearby counties, has appointed BBC presenter and reporter Laura Trant, pictured, to the role.

Ms Trant said: ‘I have known for many years about the fantastic work Wessex Cancer Trust does and the important support it provides to people living with cancer in our local communities.

‘There are some big plans for 2016 and I can’t wait to get involved.’

The charity currently has six cancer support centres, including one in Wickham.

Chief executive Cait Allen said: ‘We are very excited to welcome Laura.

‘She is joining us at an exciting time as we celebrate the past and plan an even brighter future.’
