IT’S AN achievement Darin Mccloud thought he could never attain.

But over the weekend the 46-year-old traffic warden took part in his first half marathon.

Darin, of Stanley Road, Stamshaw, completed the Brighton Half Marathon in two hours, 39 minutes and 50 seconds.

He said: ‘I am both very pleased and proud of myself for this massive achievement.

‘Now it’s time to focus on running a full marathon.’

Darin is turning his attention to the London Marathon, which takes place in April.

He has increased running from four to 12 miles a week to up to 40 miles in preparation.

Darin turned his life around by losing more than six stone in a year.

He had originally been piling on the pounds to qualify for weight-loss surgery.

But he saw the error of his ways and instead embarked upon eating better and exercising more to shed the pounds.
