A PSYCHIATRIC team that helps new mothers in Hampshire has scooped a national award.

The Hampshire Mother and Baby (Perinatal) Service, run by Southern Health NHS Trust, has been named Psychiatric Team of the Year at the national 2013 Royal College of Psychiatrists Awards.

It recognises the excellent service provided by the team, both in the community and at its specialist unit, to support mothers experiencing severe mental illnesses and their babies.

Charge nurse Sam Bennetts said: ‘Our team works so hard and is always motivated to go above and beyond.

‘We feel very proud to be recognised for the work that we do.

‘Being able to make a difference to people’s lives is rewarding.’
