STOP smoking services in the Portsmouth area are getting behind an annual drive.

Stoptober starts tomorrow, and encourages smokers to quit.

Sian Howells is stop smoking services manager for PompeyQuit, which is run by Solent NHS Trust.

She said: ‘We are committed to making stopping smoking as easy as possible by offering free and friendly help, the best medication, and practical quit tips.

‘Aside from the health benefits to the individual and their family, a smoker can expect to save around £600 by Christmas if they quit now.’
