FROM blood tests to the mortuary, it was access all areas at a hospital’s open day.
Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham invited visitors to see parts usually off limits at the annual event.
People could take department tours including pathology, cardiology, radiotherapy, mortuary and hospital radio.
During the pathology tour people were shown the department, what equipment is used for, and the types of tests available.
And for the first time the mortuary was open to the public to visit.
Mary Breeze, of Olinda Street, in Fratton, 60, said: ‘I come to QA as a patient and I wanted to see the different areas.
‘It was absolutely fascinating to see.
‘I felt relieved to see what happens should a loved one needs to use it.’
Sarah Andrew, 43, and her daughter Alice, 19, of Lovedean, saw the dementia ward.
Mrs Andrew said: ‘We come every year as it’s such a big part of the community.’
