PARENTS are being reminded their children can have a nasal vaccination against flu.
Children aged between two and four can have a free spray vaccine, as that age group is most likely to pass on flu.
And Hampshire County Council is reminding others entitled to a free flu jab to make sure they get theirs.
Councillor Liz Fairhurst, who is in charge of health and wellbeing, said: ‘If you have a long-term health condition, even one that is well managed, or you are pregnant, you are at greater risk of severe complications if you catch flu.
‘I urge everyone who is eligible to get the vaccine and help protect themselves and their families this winter.
‘Don’t put it off. If you’re eligible get it now. It’s free because you need it.
‘Those who catch the flu pass it on to an average of two people, putting those most vulnerable at an increased risk.
‘We are also promoting the flu jab scheme to some of our frontline staff, particularly in social care, to help prevent sickness and further protect more people.’
