INFORMATION about the symptoms of diabetes and how to control the condition will be available at a roadshow stopping off in Portsmouth.
The Diabetes UK’s Healthy Lifestyle Roadshow, supported by Bupa, is coming to Commercial Road, Portsmouth, on October 26 and 27.
People will be offered a free risk assessment to discover whether they are at risk of developing Type 2 diabetes.
According to the charity Diabetes UK, around 2,300 people in Portsmouth have Type 2 diabetes but are unaware they have the condition.
The roadshow aims to tackle this by highlighting risk factors and encouraging members of the public to change their lifestyles as this can help reduce the number of people suffering from the condition.
Jill Steaton, south east regional manager, said: ‘Diabetes is one of the biggest health challenges facing the UK today.
‘Worryingly, there are around 2,300 people in Portsmouth alone that have Type 2 diabetes but have no idea they do.
‘I would urge everyone who can to visit the Diabetes UK’s Healthy Lifestyle Roadshow.
‘It could be the best thing you ever do for your health.’
