A SWANMORE Primary School pupil has been named as the county’s top junior first-aider.

Rosie Foggitt, eight, was awarded Badger of the Year at St John Ambulance Hampshire’s Christmas carol service in Millbrook.

Rosie has been a member of the charity’s Bishop’s Waltham Badgers for a year and said: ‘I like learning about first aid and bandaging people. I am learning lots of things and making lots of friends.’

Katie Favill from Wykeham House Badgers in Fareham was runner-up.

Beth Sadler from Wykeham House Cadets and Grace Watts from Mayville Cadets in Southsea were named as deputy Cadets of the Year for the older children.

Pat Bethel, the charity’s commissioner for youth said: ‘St John Ambulance teaches valuable life skills to young people by training them in first aid, empowering them to be the difference between a life lost and a life saved.’
