A NUMBER of events are being organised by a hospice as part of Dying Matters Awareness Week.
The Rowans Hospice is hosting the events at its Living Well Centre, in Purbrook, with the theme ‘What Can You Do?’
Organisers are asking people what they can do for themselves, the people close to them and the community.
Examples include organ donation, making a will and planning a funeral.
On May 9 at 2pm there will be a play by Brian Daniels exploring the impact of early onset dementia.
The following day between 1.30pm and 3.30pm people will be telling their personal stories in a group discussion.
And on May 11, between 10am and 12pm, spiritual care chaplain Carol Gully will be giving a talk about dying and funerals.
Ruth White, chief executive, said: ‘We are keen to reinforce the message that dying matters and that there is lots you can do to for yourself, for the people close to you and for your community.
