Scared of the dentist? You could help others

Music session gets QA Hospital patients out of beds

Have your say

PEOPLE who are scared of the dentist are being asked to step forward and attend a workshop to help make the experience better.

Volunteers will attend a session with dentists, technicians and reception staff who all have an interest in helping nervous patients.

Research by NHS Portsmouth found that alongside cost, confusing prices, and not wanting regular check-ups, fear was another reason why people did not want to visit dentists.

Lee Loveless, of NHS Portsmouth, said: ‘We’re looking for people who have a significant fear of the dentist to work with us to find improvements that would make them and others who feel similarly feel more comfortable.

‘Dental check-ups are an important part of you looking after your overall health.’

The workshop takes place on Tuesday, November 29, at 6.30pm at St James’ Hospital, Milton.

Refreshments will be provided and travel costs covered.
