KEEPING your head in the here and now is the aim of a mindfulness club which has started meeting in Southsea.
Mindful Living Club facilitator Carolyn Barber said she was delighted with the response to the group since it started meeting last month.
Ms Barber said mindfulness involved using meditation and breathing techniques to cope with stress, anxiety, pain and depression.
‘We spend a lot of time in our heads thinking about things that have happened and thinking about things that will happen,’ she said.
‘Mindfulness is a way of bringing your attention to the here and now.’
Ms Barber said the group had about a dozen participants and there was room for more.
The club meets at the Havelock Community Centre on the first Friday of each month from 1pm to 2.30pm and on the third Monday of each month from 7pm to 8.30pm.
