WALKERS are being encouraged to take part in the Moonlit Memories Walk to raise money for the Rowans Hospice.

This year’s walk takes place on June 16 and will start off from Castle Field, Southsea.

The 12-mile route goes around Old Portsmouth and the Historic Dockyard before finishing back at Castle Field.

The event is held so people can remember lost loved ones and raise money for the hospice in Purbrook.

Anyone can take part in the charity stroll – even if they have not used the hospice’s services.

Last year, about 1,600 people took part – a figure the team hopes to increase this year.

Over the past four years £1.25m has been raised from the annual walk.

And to mark the event’s fifth anniversary the hospice has introduced a shorter five-mile route and lowered the age limit to 13 for younger walkers that want to take part.

People cannot register on the night and need to enter by June 8.

The walk starts at 11pm.
