Take your own dog to support guide dogs

Planned GP merger of Portsmouth practices to go ahead in summer

DOGS are being asked to support their fellow canines in a charity walk.

Go Walkies for Guide Dogs is being held on Southsea seafront next month.

It’s being organised by Jonathan Nel, of Jodrell Close, Horndean, who is a puppy walker for the Guide Dogs Association. Mr Nel, 27, is looking for as much support as possible. He said: ‘There are loads of ways people can get involved – sign up with your own dog, borrow a dog, share a dog or dress up as a dog and get sponsored.

‘I’ve chosen to support Guide Dogs by organising this event because I think the life-changing independence their work gives to thousands of blind and partially-sighted people is amazing.

‘Go Walkies for Guide Dogs is the only event of its kind where it’s the dog that gets sponsored to take part.’

The walk is on August 26 and begins at the hoverport at Clarence Pier.
