PHYSIOTHERAPY patients are now being seen within two weeks instead of 12, following changes to working practices.

The changes made by the physiotherapy team in St Mary’s Community Health Campus, Milton, Portsmouth, have earned them the title of Clinical Team of the Year.

They won the category in Solent NHS Trust’s annual Valued, Involved and Proud staff recognition awards.

Kim Patterson, senior physiotherapist, said: ‘As a team, we are so proud to have been recognised for our continued efforts, not only within the community, but within the trust as a whole.

‘It’s a great credit to the team, who have been through some difficult times of late, but we are proud to be a strong team, and are ready to adapt to the demands placed upon us.’

Kim’s team reduced waiting times for outpatients by working ’harder and smarter’.

It is now seeing more patients, with the use of triage clinics, and this has also helped reduce waiting times.

From January the team will be running Saturday morning clinics.
