PEOPLE who have taken part in clinical trials have been thanked by a local community and mental health provider.
Solent NHS Trust is marking International Clinical Trials Day today by saying ‘thank you’ to more than 3,600 Hampshire residents who participated in its research last year.
The trust’s research team was at St Mary’s Community Health Campus, Portsmouth, and invited anyone who had taken part in research to share their experiences.
Dr Sarah Williams, head of research and clinical audit, said: ‘It’s encouraging that last year 3,639 agreed to our clinical research projects – making a huge contribution to finding solutions to some health complaints.’
Today commemorates the anniversary of the first clinical trial by James Lind, a Gosport physician, credited as the ‘founder of naval hygiene’.
