THE parents of a baby who was born blind have given a huge thank you to those who have been fundraising for him.

Emma Wood and partner Simon Bolton were overwhelmed by the response to a three-day fundraising event held by Kath Ashborn, landlady of The Heron pub, in Havant.

Their 17-month-old son Jack has a rare genetic condition and only specially-made sensory play equipment will stimulate him.

The fundraiser made more than £1,000 meaning there is now £3,000 to buy the play equipment.

Emma, 30, of Leigh Park, said: ‘We could not believe how generous everyone has been.

‘Kath was so kind. One chap donated £250 raised by Tipner Angling Club. We can’t thank everyone enough.’
