PEOPLE with a spring in their step are being invited to train to become walk leaders for a council.

The Walking for Health initiative in East Hampshire is looking for enthusiastic people to train as walk leaders.

As well as the health benefits, the walks encourage those who do not have the confidence to go out walking on their own to get out and meet other like-minded individuals and make new friends.

There are now 17 walks which people can attend for free in East Hampshire.

Louise Christie, active lifestyle co-ordinator at East Hampshire District Council, said: ‘We offer this one-day fun and informal training day for free and at the end of it you will receive a certificate qualifying you to lead walks safely.’

Training takes place on March 26 between 10am and 4pm at the council offices in Petersfield. For more information call (01730) 234067 or email louise.christie@easthants.gov.uk.
