PEOPLE are needed to cheer on runners fundraising for the Alzheimer’s Society in this year’s Great South Run.
About 500 people are due to run the 10-mile race in Southsea on Sunday in aid of the charity, with a hope of raising more than £98,500.
This year there is an Alzheimer’s Society double-decker bus where the charity needs more people to cheer the runners on – this will be on Winston Churchill Avenue where runners pass by at two different times along the course.
Julia Smith, Alzheimer’s Society event fundraising assistant, said: ‘Cheers and encouragement really do help all our runners around the course and ensure we provide our supporters with an incredible race day experience. This also helps maximise the vital funds our runners raise to help us in our fight against dementia.’
Alzheimer’s Society will provide volunteers with a T-shirt, cheer materials and light refreshments.
