PEOPLE are being encouraged to wear a hat or festive jumper to support a hospice.

The Rowans Hospice, in Purbrook, is taking part in ITV’s annual charity appeal Text Santa, which is supporting hospices across the country.

A fundraising show is being aired on Friday, December 20, at 8pm, with the theme ‘hats on display for hattitude day’.

Staff and volunteers at the hospice are lending their support by wearing a hat or a festive jumper to work.

Chief executive Ruth White said: ‘The Text Santa appeal is once again highlighting the importance of hospice care and I would like to encourage everyone to join in the fun and wear a hat or a festive jumper on Friday and donate £1.

‘The donations we receive will enable us to continue to provide invaluable care for people affected by life-limiting illnesses.’
