A NEW women’s running group is starting up in Horndean – and is aimed at those who haven’t pulled on a tracksuit and trainers for many years.

The running group, which is being supported by East Hampshire District Council, starts in March.

The sessions will be run by group leader Jan Bull, with the enrolment evening to be held on Thursday, March 3 at Horndean Technology College between 6.30pm and 7.30pm.

Sessions start on March 17.

Mrs Bull said: ‘We genuinely support the complete beginner, regardless of age, ability, shape or size. Sessions will be progressive and fun, starting with brisk walking and building up to gentle jogging.’

Louise Christie, the council’s active lifestyle co-ordinator, said: ‘There are so many women who would love to go running but are either too self-conscious, lack confidence or are afraid for their own personal safety.

‘This project gives all women the opportunity to start running.’ For more details call Mrs Bull on 07979 503811.
