HUNDREDS of people packed into the Kings Theatre in Southsea to celebrate a memorable 60th birthday party.
The News’ weekly columnist Heather James held the birthday bash – titled Pretty in Pink – to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
Around 500 party-goers bought tickets to see performances from a number of acts including cabaret star Wezley Sebastian, a burlesque dancer and the 60-strong Spinnaker barbershop chorus.
Heather said: ‘It was absolutely magical. I decided I am going to be an OAP with attitude.
‘We had some fantastic performers coming from all over the place but I also wanted to showcase local people. There were no rehearsals and more than 100 people on that stage but it all went off without a hitch.
‘Nobody got paid; everybody did it for absolutely nothing. It was quite a birthday.
Heather hopes to have raised thousands of pounds in ticket sales and collections on the night.
