AN armed forces charity will benefit from a concert organised by the mayor of Gosport.

Councillor Chris Carter is bidding to raise cash for the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association (SSAFA), a charity which provides practical help and assistance to serving personnel and their families, and those who have served.

Cllr Carter said: ‘SSAFA supports more than 50,000 people in the armed forces community every year because they believe their bravery, dedication and commitment deserve a lifetime of support.’

Music will be provided by the Royal Marines band at HMS Collingwood.

It is at St Mary’s Church, Alverstoke on Friday, February 17 at 7.30pm.

Tickets, which cost £12 and include a glass of wine or fruit juice, are available by calling (023) 9254 5202 or visiting the Parish Centre in Alverstoke.
