Akash keeps its curry dishes healthy by reducing the levels of sugar, salt, cream and oil at the request of the customers, as well as by starting a partnership with Better Gym Portsmouth.

Faz has high hopes that the restaurant will win in the '˜Healthy curry provider' category, saying: '˜We have sent strong evidence of our campaigning of healthier food which included cooking lessons, radio shows and healthy menu and advice, which give customers healthier options. This demonstrates our passion in allowing people to eat more nutritious Indian food without feeling so guilty.

'There are healthy options in Indian restaurant such as tandoori chicken, shashliks, tikka chicken or lamb all high in protein as well as dall. We use a lot of vegetables like spinach, aubergine and okra.'
