Hollywood superstar, Kiefer Sutherland, has been confirmed as one of the headline acts for the 2019 Wickham Festival.

The actor and musician, who is best known for his role as Jack Bauer in the television drama series 24, is bringing his band to the folk event.

Gilbert OSullivan will also be performing at Wickham Festival.

The Emmy and Golden Globe winning actor will headline the Valley Stage on Sunday, August 4.

With two hit albums and UK tours to his name, the festival organisers believe Sutherland’s brand of country music is a perfect fit for the four-day festival.

Organiser Peter Chegwyn said: ‘We are very excited to have secured such a massive star. It is amazing to think Kiefer Sutherland will be coming to Wickham. It shows just how the festival has grown in stature that we are now able to attract global superstars of this calibre. It is a rare chance for fans to get close to one of the biggest names in Hollywood who is also a very talented musician and singer.’

The announcement follows on from the recent revelation that chart-toppers Gilbert O’Sullivan and Ralph McTell are also to perform at the festival. McTell is best known for his classic ballad Streets of London while O’Sullivan had a Number One hit with Clair and made the top three with Alone Again.

They join Level 42 who were earlier confirmed as headliners for the Friday night. Originally from the Isle of Wight, the band have a string of hits including Lessons in Love and Something About You.

Peter added: ‘Since we announced Kiefer Sutherland we have had a lot of enquiries about day tickets which is unusual this far in advance – but we have also sold a lot of weekend tickets because people know the unique atmosphere always remains the same.’

Peter believes the festival is a real family affair with plenty to entertain both parents and children.

‘The festival has a real family-friendly feel. There is plenty for children to do and they can roam the site unattended while parents enjoy top-class food and drink, tour the many stalls or just listen to the excellent music,’ he explained.

Early purchase weekend adult tickets are now on sale for £130 which represents a £50 saving on later sales. Under 16 tickets cost £65 with under 10's admitted completely free.

Weekend camping can also be booked for £30 per tent, caravan or motorhome.
