Food lovers can celebrate the best in local produce at the Taste of Wickham Festival next month.
Due to the phenomenal success of the inaugural event last year, the free festival will return on September 13.
A host of talented producers, makers and businesses from Wickham and the surrounding areas will gather in the historic Square, showcasing their wares which range from fresh produce, barbeques and vegan cuisine to tasty cakes, hand-crafted products and gifts.
Live cooking demonstrations will take place every hour from 11am, with five homegrown chefs demonstrating how to create tasty dishes using very local ingredients, including many available from The Southern Co-operative’s Local Flavours range in its Wickham store.
The Southern Co-operative’s Retail Business Manager in Wickham, Stuart Heaton, said: ‘Taste of Wickham is a great opportunity to sample and find out more about the wonderful food and drink produced locally through our Local Flavours showcase in store and with the cookery demonstrations throughout the day.
‘Our Local Flavours range, which is very popular with customers, is all about celebrating local distinctiveness, and this is what Taste of Wickham is about too!’
There will be plenty to keep children amused, including a free bouncy castle, the Jungle Buddies Bus, free craft activities and several acoustic music sets.
Kelly Stewart, owner of Creative Creations, said: ‘I love all things food-related, especially teaching, so I was absolutely delighted to be asked to get involved with the Taste of Wickham Festival, and have worked hard to bring together a talented team of chefs for the cookery demos.
‘I am sure everyone will enjoy watching our food demonstrations this year, especially as we have such an excellent mix to see, and of course sample!’
