Honour for city's club

POMPEY is set to be recognised in parliament for its community work.

It comes as the Blues are named South West and Wales Checkatrade Community Club of the Year in the English Football League Awards.

Representatives will be in the House of Commons on March 6 to receive the award.

The work of Pompey in the Community contributed.

They will then be up against five other regional winners, with an overall winner announced on April 9.

Shaun Harvey, EFL chief executive, said: The announcement of the Regional Award winners, provides a fitting tribute to the work that takes place to transform local communities through the power of football.

‘All clubs, not just the winners, work tirelessly to connect with local supporters and I am delighted to see such innovative and effective ideas recognised in this way.’
