Horse put down after getting caught in farm equipment

A 29-YEAR-OLD horse had to be put down after it become caught in a piece of farming equipment.

Fire crews from Cosham, Wickham and an animal rescue team from Lyndhurst were called onto a farm in Hambledon try to save the animal about 7.30am this morning. A Hampshire Fire and Rescue spokesman said after about two hours, a vet decided to euthanize the horse as it was showing signs of distress.

The spokesman said: ‘The crews were using cutting tools to try to extricate the horse, but unfortunately that decision had to be made.’
