Hospital scores well for care in annual assessment

AN ASSESSMENT of the care at Queen Alexandra Hospital has found it to be above average.

The hospital, in Cosham, scored highly in the Patient-led Assessment of the Care Environment, an annual mandatory inspection which was published this week.

Asessors inspected cleanliness, food, privacy, dignity, the condition, appearance and maintenance of buildings and treatment of dementia patients.

Overall, the hospital scored above average for all five of the key domains.

On cleanliness, it scored 97.82 per cent compared to 97.57 per cent national average. For food it scored 92.15 per cent, with a national average of 88.49 per cent. For privacy, dignity and wellbeing it scored 90.08 per cent, with a national average of 86.03 per cent. Buildings scored 94.32 per cent with a national average of 90.11 per cent.

For the care of dementia patients, it scored 81.78 per cent, with a national average of 74.51 per cent.

A spokeswoman said: ‘These great results are a reflection of the fantastic work of our staff, and we’ll continue to work hard to make sure we are providing the best possible care for our patients.’
