Hospitals in urgent need of new nurses

A CAMPAIGN has been launched to help address a national shortfall of 20,000 trained nurses.

Western Sussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which oversees St Richard’s Hospital in Chichester among others, is running a campaign to attract the best nursing talent.

Every six weeks, newly-qualified, experienced, and former nurses, can attend a series of recruitment events to discover the benefits of working for an NHS trust.

The trust is also looking overseas and four senior nurses are heading to the Philippines to recruit up to 100 more nurses.

It has been more than a decade since teams from Worthing and St Richard’s hospitals last visited the Philippines, but many of the nurses recruited then are still living and working in West Sussex.
