The Rowans Hospice team want to say a huge thank you to everyone in the community that has thrown a Rowans Silver Jubilee tea party – so far you have raised over £6,000 towards the appeal.

Since the launch in The News in June, Silver Jubilee tea parties have proved to be a great way to gather friends and colleagues together whilst raising vital funds to support the future of Rowans Hospice.
Over 75 parties have been hosted in Portsmouth, Petersfield, Waterlooville, Hayling Island and Fareham and even in the Solent!
Tea and cake has been enjoyed in offices, Scout huts, on boats and in back gardens.

Community Café raises £500

The monthly Community Café at the Lodge in Anchorage Park, Portsmouth held a Silver Jubilee tea party in July and raised a whopping £500.
Instead of the usual request for a donation, everyone attending paid a set amount to take part in the cafe’s regular monthly raffle and quiz, and to indulge in the delicious range of cakes and refreshments.
Mavis Wilkinson, one of the founding members of the community café and a long-time supporter of Rowans Hospice, covered the cost of the hall hire for that Saturday afternoon, so every penny paid could go to the Rowans.
The additional bunting and decorations included in the Rowans Silver Jubilee tea party pack, plus the heart-warming and informative speeches given by the Lord Mayor of Portsmouth and Rowans Marketing Director, made sure the afternoon had a real party atmosphere.
Spurred on by the fantastic success of the event, organisers of the Anchorage Park Community Café hope to hold this tea party as an annual fundraising event for their local community hospice.

Support group hosts Silver Jubilee tea party

Fareham Support Group welcomed over 80 guests to its Silver Jubilee tea party at Fareham’s Masonic Lodge of Harmony in June.
Friends, family and hospice supporters were treated to a wonderful high tea. Margaret and Den even chose the occasion to celebrate their 71st wedding anniversary with their family.
The event was a huge success, raising over £1,200 for the appeal, which was boosted by an additional donation of £1,000 from the Lodge of Harmony.

Trustees Tea

At the beginning of July, Rowans Hospice Trustees and senior management team held a Silver Jubilee tea party which welcomed the founding trustees.
This very special event allowed for lots of memories to be shared, in addition to showing appreciation to those who, through their hard work and generosity, were instrumental in getting Rowans Hospice built.

The great news is that there is still time to host a tea party and celebrate the last few days of summer. Simply request your free pack filled with invitations, bunting, ideas for recipes and even a tablecloth, by emailing silverjubilee@rowanshospice.co.uk or calling 023 9223 7145.
