On the hunt for Buster at the spooky Sally Port

But a group of paranormal investigators are hopeful of tracking the Royal Naval frogman down.

Paranormal Portsmouth held an investigation at the Keppel’s Head Hotel, at The Hard, last year and when that proved fruitless, they turned their attentions to the Sally Port Hotel, in Old Portsmouth, which has been empty since it closed in 2008.

The hotel, which was created in 1947 from a war-damaged residence that dates back to the 1600s, was allegedly the last place Buster stayed, and Buster’s room overlooked a Soviet cruiser berthed at Portsmouth Dockyard.

Jack Hernandez, 22, from Southsea, who runs the group, led an investigation at the hotel earlier this month.

He said: ‘We are still reviewing all the evidence, and we have got some interesting bits, but we didn’t find anything this time to link to Buster.

‘However we did capture some orbs and a female voice, which came through with the name Elizabeth.

‘We later discovered that Elizabeth was the name of a former owner who died there, so it’s pretty interesting.

‘In terms of Buster though, we are still going through everything, and even if we don’t find him this time, I’m hopeful we’ll find him one day.’

A team of five stayed in the spooky hotel overnight, carefully monitoring every bump in the night with hi-tech equipment.

The group are now planning a trip to Fort Widley.
