THE manager of a beauty spot is asking for the public’s help in winning a top award.
Last year Queen Elizabeth Country Park, near Horndean, came in the top 10 of the People’s Choice Green Flag Award which recognises city parks and green spaces.
It is voting time again and Tim Speller, the park manager, is calling on all those who love the country park to make their voices known by voting for it.
He said: ‘Last year QECP was fortunate to come seventh overall which was a fantastic achievement.
‘With the public’s support we are hoping to do better this time.
‘Taking part, and doing well, in initiatives such as the People’s Choice is very important for QECP during what as we all know are difficult times.’
A record-breaking 1,424 parks and green spaces this year received a Green Flag Award.
Paul Todd, Green Flag Award scheme manager said: ‘Our judges have decided on the parks which have reached the high standards of a Green Flag Award but the People’s Choice Award gives the public the chance to decide which park or green space deserves the accolade of the nation’s favourite.’
He said more than 13,000 votes were received last year, proof of how important quality parks and green spaces are to us all.
To vote for your favourite go to greenflagaward.org.uk, select your region on the interactive map, find your favourite park or green space and click the vote for this site button.
The deadline is October 14.
