Our columnist Kate Knight, associate at Biscoes solicitors, talks about her career history and recent promotion

I HAVE worked in the field of family law for more than 30 years, and I now lead a team of five at Biscoes’ High Street premises.

I am delighted to be heading up such an excellent team and I’m looking forward to continuing the outstanding work done on behalf of clients from this busy Gosport base.

I have worked in a solicitors’ office since the age of 20, and I qualified as a legal executive in 1989.

I was admitted as a solicitor in 1992 and I’ve been working for Biscoes for 11 years.

For the past 30 years I’ve worked in family law, more recently specialising in children.

I have particular expertise in private law disputes over children, and in-care proceedings where I represent both child and adult parties.

For many years, I have been a member of the campaigning national family law network Resolution, and I am also a member of the Law Society Children’s Panel.

My own three children are aged between 17 and 20.

Biscoes has 100 staff and was awarded Hampshire Law Society Firm of the Year (Small) 2016 in May.

Our headquarters are in Portsmouth and we also have offices in Portchester, Wickham, Waterlooville and Petersfield.

Biscoes can trace its roots back 162 years. We merged with highly-regarded commercial specialist Graeme Quar & Co in April.

The firm is a member of the Law Society, Hampshire Law Society, the Charity Law Association, Portsmouth Property Association and Hampshire Chamber of Commerce.
