YOU’VE heard of speed-dating, well this is what they call ‘speed matching’.
Instead of finding a partner for life, pairing off prospective volunteers with community groups was the goal.
The Volunteer Speedmatching event was held at Waitrose in Locks Heath, attracting 16 groups and scores of people eager to learn more about volunteering opportunities available.
Volunteers spent three minutes with each group before choosing the ones they wanted to apply to work with.
Jennie Romicheva from Community Action Fareham said she was delighted.
She said: ‘Everyone took part with great enthusiasm and Waitrose were wonderful hosts.’
Volunteers made a total of 96 expressions of interest in volunteering for the groups.
