Entrepreneur Sara Pollard is preparing for The Great Gluten Free Bake Off in aid of baby charity Tommy’s

The Great British Bake Off is back on BBC1 this Wednesday for it’s third week!

It has really got us in the mood for baking up a storm in the Free From Temptation kitchen!

Most importantly, it’s got me thinking about raising more money for charity.

As you all know, I’m a huge charity fundraiser, and proud to have raised over £1,000 for various charities since becoming a business three years ago.

After the fantastic success of our mini spin off, The Great Gluten Free Bake Off, in aid of Children in Need last November, I feel the 2015 version should be bigger and better!

Last year, 20 people entered the competition, with a fantastic array of cakes and cupcakes given for us to auction off on the day.

It was a hard call, but with a little help from fellow cake maker judges – Niki Tomkinson, Oliver Dakin and Leanne Oliver-Pulford – we rightly crowned local teacher Rob Baker-Gall the winner, after he supplied us with a beautiful hat cake.

It was simply stunning and it tasted divine too!

Since winning the competition, Rob is fast becoming one of the most talented hobby cake-makers I have had the pleasure of knowing.

He’s an amazingly gifted cake decorator and has a blogging page on Facebook called ‘Mr Bakers Cakes’ which showcases his fantastic creations.

Despite his talent, his first love will always be teaching, at Harrison Primary School, in Fareham.

The kids genuinely love him and so do the other teachers, especially when he’s brought a new cake creation in to test!

This year, the Great Gluten Free Bake Off will be raising money for the baby charity Tommy’s.

As you will have read in last week’s column, Tommy’s is a charity very close to my heart and a cause for which I strongly believe more awareness needs to be raised to help those affected.

If you would be interested in taking part in the bake off, and making a gluten free cake or cupcakes to help us raise money for this amazing charity, then please email me on to receive an application form.

All forms will be sent out at the end of August once we’ve finalised a date for the event.
