PORTSMOUTH Film Society will celebrate its fifth anniversary by launching the first Pride Film Festival in Hampshire.

The month-long festival, entitled The Pride LGBT Film Festival, is dedicated to screening films that have a lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender theme.

It takes place from February 3 to February 26, with a number of films being screened in the University of Portsmouth’s Eldon Building.

The society will be one of the collaborators and says it is proud of its own history in bringing international films from around the world to the city.

Society chairwoman Aysegul Epengin said: ‘Many thanks to our number one supporter, the University of Portsmouth.’

The festival will open with a showing of the critically-acclaimed film, Pride.
