Instrument of Jutland Marine goes on display
TALES of a Royal Marine bandsman who fought at the Battle of Jutland are to be revealed.
Bandsman Frederick Charles Palfreman, his medals, a photo, newspaper clipping and piece of the trombone he played in the battle 100 years ago are now on display at 36 Hours: Jutland 1916, The Battle That Won The War, at Portsmouth’s Historic Dockyard.
Son David Palfreman donated the items and said: ‘My father never spoke in any detail about his experience at Jutland except to say the noise and fires were indescribable.’
