Have your say

OUR church, All Saints, in Denmead, will be celebrating the birthday of the Christian church.

That means it’s party time.

The vicar, the Reverend Sandra Edwards, is inviting the local community to a weekend of celebrations to mark the festival of Pentecost.

On Saturday May 18, village residents are invited to a free brunch served from 9.30am to 11.30am in the church hall, providing an opportunity to enjoy free coffee or tea with a sausage or bacon bap, have a chat, and look around the church to find out more about All Saints’ activities.

In the afternoon there is Messy Church from 3.30pm to 5.30pm in the church hall with stories, crafts, singing and activities, followed by free tea.

Local children aged three to 12, accompanied by their families, are very welcome as long as they are prepared to get messy.

In the evening there will be a concert by Hampshire Police Male Voice Choir at 7.30pm in the church to round off the day!

The audience will enjoy a lively and uplifting performance by this accomplished choir whose repertoire is extensive and covers all genres of music – ranging from the most sacred, to sea shanties, folk songs and show stoppers.

Tickets cost £8 each, including refreshments. They are available from the church office and on (023) 9226 8565, or by downloading a postal booking form from allsaintsdenmead.org.uk

On Sunday May 19 the main church service to celebrate Pentecost will be held at 9.30am. It will be followed by a wedding fiar until 3pm.

Join the Pentecost party – it will be lots of fun.
